COSCO, SeaEnergy sign cooperative offshore wind industry agreement
British renewable energy firm SeaEnergy PLC announced Wednesday it signed an agreement with Chinese shipbuilder COSCO to develop and market steel structures for the offshore wind industry.
The cooperative agreement was expected to lead to a definitive contract to develop and market turbine jacket substructures, towers and access systems for offshore wind farms.
"The two companies will now work together over the coming months to develop a detailed business plan and commercial framework which will form the basis of their ongoing relationship."said the announcement released by SeaEnergy PLC.
SeaEnergy CEO Joel Staadecker said he was delighted to work with one of China's premier state-owned enterprises and direct efforts at the critical supply chain needed for offshore structures.
The cooperation agreement marks the first significant agreement in offshore wind between a Scottish company and a major state-owned Chinese enterprise.
