Myanmar vice president calls for developing SMEs in southeastern region

YANGON, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar Vice President Sai Mauk Kham has called for developing small and medium-sized enterprises as part of the efforts to create more job opportunities in Dawei, the capital of Tanintharyi Region, official media reported Wednesday.

During a meeting with local authorities in Dawei, Sai stressed undertaking development tasks in the region, said the New Light of Myanmar.

He called on health staff of the Dawei General Hospital to cooperate with the private sector to develop private hospitals in accordance with the rules and regulations.

He also pledged to provide medicines and equipment to the hospital every financial year.

When visiting Dawei universities, he said that the government will make arrangements for the universities to be able to cooperate with private educational institutions.

The government is working together with ministries concerned to improve the infrastructures, water supply, technology, power supply and communication sectors of the universities, Sai added.
