ECTPA held mid-year meeting with 6 countries’ consulate generals

Aug.16, 2013, ECTPA held a mid-year meeting and invited 6 countries’ consulate generals in Kunming. Executive Chairperson Wang Yiming presided over the meeting, Consul-general of Thailand in Kunming Vichit Chitvimarn, Consul-general of Myanmar in Kunming U Aung Kyaw Oo, Consul-general of Laos in Kunming Bounliep Houngvongsone, Consul-general of Vietnam in Kunming Nguyen Chinh Thang, Consul-general of Malaysia in Kunming Nasri Rahman and Consul-general of Cambodia in Kunming Sao Khoradin and their retinues attended the meeting. Li Jinze, Vice head of Leading Group office of the Gateway Construction under the Provincial Development & Reform Commission, Shi Chaobin, Deputy Director of Executive Office of Coordinating Group of Lancang-Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation of Yunnan Province, as well as Wang Guoliang, Xu Zhonglin and Chen Hangao, Vice Chairpersons of ECTPA attended the meeting.

On the meeting, Executive Chairperson Wang Yiming extended her appreciation to 6 countries’ Consul-generals’ constant supports to ECTPA. The meeting aims at introducing the economic and social development of Yunnan province and the direction of next work phase. Li Jinze, Vice head of Leading Group office of the Gateway Construction under the Provincial Development & Reform Commission made explanations to the micro economic features of China, which has entered into a new economic and social development era, adding that “development, reform and stability are three chess pieces strategically interconnected on the chess board. Good moves will revitalize the full game and any wrong move will end in a trouble.” Shi Chaobin, Deputy Director of Executive Office of Coordinating Group of Lancang-Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation of Yunnan Province introduced economic development terrain, key projects under construction and problems confronted in details. He also made basic prediction to the development direction and pointed out the focus of work in the next phase.

Questions concerning 6 countries’ cooperation with Yunnan on agriculture, port construction, preferential policies in FTZ, Central Yunnan industrial cluster area, bilateral trade were raised by 6 countries’ consul-generals. They thought that this meeting effectively promoted the interaction among consulate generals, related government departments and non-governmental organization in Yunnan and further enhanced the specific projects cooperation between Yunnan and neighboring countries. To the Provincial Development & Reform Commission and ECTPA, this meeting pragmatically promoted the multilateral communication by listening six countries’ needs and proposals, which set a good base for the further communication and cooperation between Yunnan and Southeast Asian countries.
