BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's annual expo for agricultural product processing industries is scheduled for Sept. 6-8 in Zhumadian City, Henan Province in central China, organizers announced here Tuesday.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and the Henan Provincial Government and held since 1998, the event is the country's only national trade fair in the agric-product processing sector.

The upcoming expo is expected to attract participants from more than 4,000 enterprises, including around 60 firms from overseas, according to officials at a press conference.

It will feature agricultural product exhibitions and trade, negotiations and launches concerning agricultural product processing projects, and the launch of projects created to put latest agricultural product processing research results into practice.

Unlike previous sessions, this year's event will include sessions designed for Sino-European exchanges over agric-product processing technologies.

MOA Chief Economist Yang Shaopin told the press conference that the event is intended to serve as a platform for economic cooperation between China's different regions and facilitate the country's efforts to upgrade its agric-product processing sector.

Henan, a leading Chinese province in terms of annual outputs of grain, livestock and poultry respectively, is home to a number of major brands in the agric-product processing sector and remains the country's biggest producer of instant noodles and quick-frozen food.
