PHNOM PENH, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The China's Hunan Flying Swallow Acrobatic Troupe performed at the capital's Chaktomuk Theater on Thursday evening to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China.

The special performance drew about 350 spectators. Speaking at the opening of the event, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Him Chhem said the performance was not only to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic ties, but also to exchange culture between the two nations.

"The performance is a good opportunity for Cambodian people to better understand about Chinese culture and traditions," he said.

Li Zhigong, political counselor at China's Embassy to Cambodia, said that acrobatic performance was an invaluable cultural heritage of China and was recorded in Chinese history more than 2, 000 years ago.

"We sincerely hope that the performances will further boost mutual understanding on culture between the peoples of the two countries," he said.

At the event, the performers treated the audience with a number of shows including group contortion, mini-martial arts, magic, and one-hand handstand.

Each of performances had drawn hearty rounds of applause from the audience.

The Hunan Flying Swallow Acrobatic Troupe was established in 2002, dedicating to promoting the essence of outstanding national and folk traditions.

The troupe has performed in more than 100 countries around the globe on the special occasions between China and other countries and on the occasions of Chinese New Year celebrations.
