Kunming's foreign trade totaled $14.41 bln in 2012

The foreign trade in Kunming totaled 14.41 billion dollars in 2012, up 20.1 percent compared with the same period last year. The import earned 8.72 billion dollars, showing a 61.7 percent year-on-year increase. The export reached 5.69 billion dollars, dropping 13.9 percent compared with that of last year, according to Kunming Customs.

So far, Kunming has developed business relations with 172 countries and regions. ASEAN has become the biggest cooperative partner of the city with the total trade of 3.34 billion dollars last year.

The trade with countries in EU, the USA and Japan slumped, showing year-on-year drops of 43.3 percent, 53 percent and 40.1 percent respectively.

There have been 824 enterprises engaging foreign trade in Kunming, including 8 foreign-investment enterprises.

The agricultural products have been the most popular exporting goods in Kunming, earning 920 million dollars. The export of tobacco reached 530 million dollars, up 17.8 percent compared with the same period last year. Exporting of some goods also declines, such as mechanical and electrical products, chemical fertilizers, non-ferrous metals, clothing and textiles.(Editor:Lynn)
