Kunming wins China Int'l Sister City Exchange & Co-op Prize for 3rd time

Kunming was awarded the China International Sister City Exchange & Cooperation Prize at the 2012 China International Friendship Cities Conference recently. It was the third consecutive time that the city has received this honor.

As of June, 2012, Kunming has established friendship ties with 33 cities across five continents, such as: Zurich in Switzerland and Denver in the United States.

Kunming has benefited from the exchange and cooperation with international friendship cities in the fields of education, culture, economy, tourism, trade, science and technology.

The 2012 China International Friendship Cities Conference was held in Chengdu from Sept 12 to 13. The event attracted 700 representatives from 185 cities around the globe, according to China media reports.

Nineteen cities nationwide, including Kunming, were awarded the China International Sister City Exchange & Cooperation Prize, an award for cities that have made great contributions to inter-country communication.

Established in 2008, the biennial China International Friendship Cities Conference is sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and China International Friendship Cities Association (CIFCA), and aims to be a communication platform for international cities.
