New highway port connecting Hekou and Lao Cai to open on August 8

China Hekou--Vietnam Lao Cai International Highway Port will come into operation at 8:00 a.m. on August 8, 2012. It will be in service from 8:00 to 20:00 every day.

If the new port comes into use, all freight transport vehicles engaging in import and export will be arranged to pass through China-Vietnam Red River Road Bridge. Nanxihe Road Bridge will hault the business for freight transport vehicles of import and export trading, but turn to serve for mini-sized motor vehicles and tourists.

Located near the 99th and 100th boundary monuments bordering China and Vietnam, the new port belongs to an international highway port (China's first-class port ). It connects the Hekou Town of southwest China's Yunnan Province and Lao Cai City in Lao Cai Province, Vietnam. The port allows the bilateral entry and exit of persons, freights, goods and transport machines as well as those of the third country (region). The present service mainly focuses on the transporting.
