20th Kunming Import and Export Fair kicks off

The 20th Kunming (China) Import and Export Fair and the South Asian Countries Commodity Fair kicked off this morning (June 6) at Kunming International Conference and Exposition Center. This time more than 30 countries and districts from ASEAN, South Asia, West Asia and East Asia take part in the exhibition. There are 2485 booths, of which 502 are set for South Asian countries. In addition to exhibitors from 10 countries of ASEAN and 8 countries of South Asia, delegations from Jordan, Turkey, Iran, Australia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Japan, Korea, Germany and Italy will show up in this fair. And it's the first time for West Asian exhibitors to join in.

Huang Mengfu(黄孟复), vice chairman of the CPPCC national committee, Somsavat, Deputy Prime Minister of the Laos, Nguyen Thien Nhan, a deputy prime minister of Vietnam, Syed Ashraful Islam, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and Cambodian Minister of state and business Cham Prasidh attended the opening ceremony.

The 20th Kunming Import and Export Fair will run from June 6th to June 10th. During this period, a series of events will be staged.

A three-day forum, named China-South Asia Business Forum was opened yesterday afternoon. More than 300 delegates from China and South Asian nations attended the forum.

A total of 45 journalists from 14 south and southeast Asian countries are gathering in Yunnan. They will cover the activities of Kunming Import and Export Fair and Yunnan's development on the way to be a gateway linking China to south Asia.
