Kunming to build South Asia's largest cold chain logistics center

The largest international cold chain logistics commercial and trade center in both southwest China and South Asia will be built in Kunming with an investment of RMB 7.2 billion.

The logistic center will settle down at the northeast of Kunming Airport Economic Zone and covers a land of 2,000 mu, including logistic zone, product processing zone, area for cold storage, commercial trade zone and service zone. After the completion of construction, business in the center is expected to account to 80% of the province’s market with an estimated annual transaction of RMB 4 billion.

A cold chain is a temperature-controlled supply chain. An unbroken cold chain is an uninterrupted series of storage and distribution activities which maintain a given temperature range. It is used to help extend and ensure the shelf life of products such as fresh agricultural produce, seafood, frozen food, photographic film, chemicals and pharmaceutical drugs.(Editors:Lynn, Minnie Mao)
