Kunming's CPI rises 1.2% in June

Kunming's consumer price index(CPI) rose 5.1 percent year-on-year and 1.2 percent month-on-month in June, the Kunming Survey Team of National Bureau of Statistics said yesterday(July 27th).

According to the statistics, the food price, the main factor to drive CPI up, rose 12.3 percent year-on-year in June, pulling CPI to rise 3.9 percent. Residents in Kunming shall pay more for food, such as meats, eggs, and vegetables.

China's CPI cover the following items food, alcohol and tobacco and supplies, apparel, household appliances and maintenance services, medical care and personal products, entertainment, educational and cultural articles, transport and communication and housing.

Except alcohol, tobacco and supplies, the other items all had a month-on-month increase in June. The household appliances and maintenance services rose 1.8 percent month-on-month, while transport and communication rose 1.5 percent month-on-month. These data showed the middle-income earners began to pay attention to the consumer price since the items of transport apparel, and education had a larger proportion in CPI than the item of food in CPI for the middle-income earners.
