Kunming - ASEAN trade rose 61.6 percent in first 5 months

Trade between Kunming and ASEAN members shows substantial growth since the initiation of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area at the beginning of 2010. The bilateral trade volume rose 61.6 percent to 1.22 billion U.S. dollars in first 5 months this year.

In 2010, trade volume between Kunming and ASEAN nations increased 51.3 percent year-on-year to 2.24 billion U.S. dollars. Kunming’s export growth to Malaysia, Brunei and Thailand all increased more than 100 percent.

The bilateral investment also showed strong growth, with a total investment of 72.19 million U.S. dollars in 2010, covering rubber, mineral exploration, agricultural crop cultivation and so on.

Moreover, the 2nd China-ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Conference will be held on July 3 at Yunnan Convention Center in Kunming. More than 200 representatives will discuss how to establish the industrial joints and cooperative mechanism to promote the mutual trade cooperation and realize mutual benefits. (Editor: Ryan Li)
