Yunnan’s foreign trade totaled $5 bln in 1st 4 months

Yunnan’s foreign trade has totaled $ 4.73 billion in the first 4 months, including $2.84 billion in exports and $1.89 billion in imports, showing an increase of 34.9% over the same period last year, reporters learned yesterday (May 15th) from Kunming Customs.

The volume of imports and exports in Yunnan Province was $1.27 billion in April, which was a 10.6% drop compared to that of the previous month. Comparing with March, export has dropped 24.2% to $ 690 million and import increased 13.7% to $ 580 million.

In the first 4 months, mechanical and electrical products with the $770 million export volume continued to top export commodities in Yunnan. In total, 195,000 tons of agricultural products had been exported, which was equivalent to $440 million. With a marked hike, the exports of textiles and clothing were $240 million.

Exports of private enterprises were $2.96 billion in the first four months, an increase of 61.7% over the same period a year earlier. Exports of state-owned enterprises saw a year-on-year drop of 0.4%. The foreign trade of foreign invested enterprises was $260 million, 62.4% higher than the period last year. Trades focusing on tourism and shopping reached $780 million, which made tourism the fastest-growing fueler of trade in Yunnan.(Reporter:Lynn,editor:Minnie Mao)
