Int'l food festival kicks off in Kunming

The 21th China Chief Festival and the 1st Dianchi Pan-Aisa International Food Festival kicked off Tuesday morning (October 18) at Kunming International Exhibition Center.

More than 3000 elite chefs from cross the country and thousands of foodies have been attracted to participate in the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, a series of Yunnan cultural song and dance performances have been staged, presenting a visual feast of dance, music, and pageantry.

Party Secretary of Kunming Qiu He, Mayor of Kunming Zhang Zhulin, Secretary-General of World Federation of Chinese cuisine Shang Haling attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Began in 1990, China Chefs Festival has past its 20th birthday and become the grandest event in China's catering industry. It is the major events in Chinese culinary profession. Every October, thousands of Chefs, catering business operators and scholars will gather in a hosting city to celebrate the carnival of culinary people.

As many as 440 catering exhibitions will be held in the sixth pavilion in Kunming Convention and Exhibition Center, covering green food (raw materials), equipments in the restaurants, condiments, drinks and famous cities for food etc. Traders in catering enterprises from Thailand, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan will gather in Kunming to experience the culinary arts in Yunnan.

As series events of Dianchi Pan-Aisa, the festivals is not only a precious opportunity to vigorously develop the catering industry of Yunnan, but also a new develop-the-west strategy to promote the internationalization and catering industry of Kunming.
