Kunming delegation visits leading enterprises in Taiwan

A delegation headed by Qiu He, the secretary of the CPC Kunming Municipal Committee, visited Uni-President Group yesterday(February 21, 2011)in Taiwan.

Qiu said that Kunming will accelerate its construction as a regional international city for opening up to the Southwest and expressed the hope that Uni-President Group continues to expand its investment in diversified industries in Kunming.

"We will continuously expand market, contributing to economic development between Kunming and Taiwan", said Lin Cangsheng, the president of Uni-President Group.

As the largest processed food producer in Taiwan, Uni-President Group established its subsidiary in Chinese Mainland in 1992. It is the second largest juice drinks producer and the third largest instant noodles supplier in China.

Yesterday, the delegation also visited Southern Taiwan Science Park. They were impressed with advanced technology that turning waste into resource and hoping to conduct multi-level exchanges and cooperation.

The Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) includes Tainan Science Park and Kaohsiung Science Park. Key industries in the park include integrated circuits, optoelectronics, green energy, and biotechnology. Prominent companies based in the park include TSMC, Chimei Innolux Corporation, and United Microelectronics Corporation, according to stsipa.gov.tw.
