The tourism revenue of Yunnan has hit a record of ¥10.06 billion in 2010.

From 2005 to 2010, foreign tourists received by Yunnan have climbed 1.79 million to 3.29 million, with the foreign exchange earnings increasing to $1.32 billion from 0.53 billion, while the number of domestic tourists have increased to 138 million from 68.6 million, which brought Yunnan’s tourism revenue rise to ¥10.06 billion.

Yunnan will focus efforts on promoting an accessible tourism zone in the Greater Mekong subregion in the near future. Visa abolition agreements will concluded within the region, and resource sharing, joint marketing, as well as mutual development in tourism are expected to be achieved.

Meanwhile, much more efforts will be put on developing cross-border tourism products and promoting lines linking Indochinese peninsula, Middle East and South Asia regions. In this way, Yunnan will be built into a transnational tourism destination and a regional international tourism distribution center
