Yunnan’s forestry output to exceed ¥100 bln in 5 years

Yunnan’s forestry output is expected to exceed ¥100 billion in 2015 and forests are expected to cover 55% of Yunnan, with a 1.7-billion-cubic-meter trees storage.

In the past 5 years, ¥1.338 billion has been invested for improving forests. About 6.8292-million-mu land has been reclaimed for forests, and 189.653-million-mu are used for natural forest protection annually. About ¥ 644 million has been invested for drought relief. Moreover, protection species that has small populations has been launched. Two state-level natural deserves and 2 national wet-land parks have been added.

Recently, people have suffered losses from natural disasters including freezing, draught and fires. The commercial insurance has been increased instead of the government compensation. Forestry fire pilots have been set in Kunming, Qujing, Yuxi, Pu’er and Dali, covering 127.7707 million mu of land.

In 2011, 6.5-million-mu forest is planed to be planted and 4-million-mu one will be improved. About 80 million trees will be planted by volunteers. Forestry’s total output is expected to increase by 15%.
