Development tasks for Kunming in 2011

The main development tasks for Kunming in 2011 have been planned, according to Kunming’s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), covering agriculture, industry, trade, construction, social security and so on. The gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of Kunming in 2011 was set at 13%, and the consumer price index (CPI) growth rate will be controlled within 4%.

Agriculture

The fundamental role of agriculture will be consolidated. A 400-thousand-mu vegetable planting base and an international flower plantation will be built. New reservoirs will be constructed and some reservoirs will be reinforced. Some counties of Kunming will be reconstructed.

Industry

Among the 70 planned over-100-million industry projects, 40 will be completed in 2011. Industry’s fixed asset investment rate growth has been set at 30%. The construction of Chang’an Automobile Group’s Kunming producing base will be launched. Besides, the construction of Sino-Myanmar oil and gas pipelines, the state’s high-concentration phosphate compound fertilizer base, rail tracks’ base and Kunming Airport Economic Development Zone have been included.

Trade

A trade center for Southeast Asian Nations and New Luosiwan International Trade City will be constructed on accelerating. About 47 wholesale markets will be transferred or rebuilt. At least,3 financial agencies and 1 well-known information industrial enterprise are planned to be introduced into Kunming and 3 banks will be established in rural areas. More than 130 headquarters for enterprises will be set up.

Metro

Main projects of Kunming Metro Line 1 and Line 2 will be completed. And construction for Line 4 and Line 5 will be launched. In total, 52.1-kilometer bus lanes will be built and 26 bus lines will be added.

Investment Promotion

About ¥100 billion and $100 billion will be introduced into Kunming. Total values of import and export are expected to increase by 20%.

Social Security

A total of ¥3.8 billion will be used for social securities and ¥4.633 billion for minorities’ development.

Sustainable Development

A total of 4.7-million-cubic-meter sludge off the coast of Kunming will be removed. Nearly 10,000 people in or around ecological zones will be transferred. About 95-thousand-mu natural forests will be protected and 17-thousand-mu lands will be used for farming or planting forests.

Others

About ¥5.3 billion will be used for education. Phase I and II of Kunming College will be completed and its area will be expanded.

Three county-level hospitals, 4 township hospitals and some health centers of remote areas will be improved.

A total of 100,000 new jobs will be created. Moreover, about 150,000 rural labors will get trained.
