Economist: Two to three times interest rate hike likely

Source:   Time:

Zhu Baoliang, the chief economist at China's State Information Center, says the government is likely to raise interest rates two to three times this year to keep a lid on rising prices.

He adds that Chinese policy makers are not overly concerned about the impact of policy tightening on growth, as the economy is on a solid footing as those trade figures indeed show.

He predicts economic growth in 2011 to be a little slower than last year, but says nine percent is achievable, as the country is facing less uncertainties compared to the previous two years.
