Two more national nature reserves approved in Yunnan

Yesterday, Yunlong Tianchi (云龙天池) Lake, and Yuanjiang (元江) Nature Reserve were approved as national-level nature reserves in Yunnan, according to Yunnan Environmental Protection Department.

Tianchi Lake is located in west of the Yunlong County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of southern Yunnan Province. This picturesque lake sits at high elevation and is flanked by hills on every side, covering an area of 14,475 hectares.

Yuanjiang Nature Reserve is located in Yuanjiang County of Yuxi City, southwest China’s Yunnan Province. It features with dry-hot valleys, covering an area of 22378.9 hectares.

As one of the most biologically diverse places in the world, Yunnan Province already has 16 national-level nature reserves by 2009.
