Yunnan-ASEAN trade surges 44.8% in Q1-Q3

Oct. 18, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Trade between Yunnan Province and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations hit a record high of US$3.17 billion in the first three quarters of this year, up 44.8% year on year, the Kunming Customs reported.

During the first nine months, export items amounted to 2,533. The mechanical and electrical products contributed most with export value of US$534 million, 45.4% more than in the same period of last year.

In the reporting period, Yunnan imported 367 kinds of products to ASEAN. With the advantage of zero-tariff agreed between China and ASEAN, 88 kinds of zero-tariff commodities were imported for US$210 million, surging 37.5% from a year earlier.

Yunnan's total foreign trade was US$10.05 billion in the same period.
