Invitated by Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, and led by Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Secretary Bai Enpei (白恩培), a friendly delegation from Yunnan has arrived in Laos for attending Vientiane's 450th Anniversary Celebration that is scheduled for November 15-21. The delegation has also attended a signing ceremony of three cooperation projects between Yunnan (China) and Vientiane (Laos), on November 17.

It is understood that Yunnan Radio Digital TV Culture Media Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Yunnan Digital Media") will cooperate with Lao National Television (LNTV) to launch the construction of network coverage test with China's terrestrial digital TV transmission standard (DTMB) in three provinces of Laos.

With the estimated total investment of 10 million U.S. dollars, the project is expected to be completed within next year and by then over 600,000 households in Laos will enjoy clear and stable TV programs.

In 2007, the Lao terrestrial digital TV standard format conversion project has been completed successfully by Yunnan Digital Media, LNTV and Lao Technology Development Co., Ltd. As a result, Laos has become the first foreign country to get actual use of China’s national standard.

Meanwhile, the representative office of Fu-Dian Bank was officially opened in Laos, accompanied by the launch of cross-border settlements in renminbi and Lao currency. The bank has set accounts for renminbi (RMB) cross border trade settlements in August of this year, which is the first substantive attempt in financial cooperation between China and Laos and provides a new settlement channel.

In addition, a cooperation agreement for a $20-million development projects has also been signed by Yunnan Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Yunnan Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. (YOI), and Vientiane government.

DTMB is the digital terrestrial television (DTT) standard adopted in China. This mandatory standard covers both fixed and mobile terminals and will eventually serve more than half of the television viewers in the PRC, especially those in suburban and rural areas.

Established on June 1993, Yunnan Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. is a state-owned enterprise approved by the Yunnan Provincial Government. It is a large conglomerate involved in many industries including installation of electric and mechanical equipments, municipal road and bridge construction, steel construction, water resources and hydropower engineering construction, building materials and equipment supply.

Yunnan Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. was established in 2009, with registered capital of RMB 1 billion yuan which invested by the Yunnan provincial government.
