China-Laos ties witness "dynamic growth": top political advisor

NANNING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met here Tuesday with Laotian Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly, and spoke highly of the "dynamic development" of bilateral relations.

Asang Laoly is one of the foreign leaders who is here to attend the 7th China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Expo and the 7th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said the top leaders of the two countries agreed to form a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership last year, thus uplifting bilateral ties to a new height.

The two countries enjoyed frequent high-level contacts, closer strategic mutual trust and rapid growth of trade in years, he said.

China was willing to work closely with Laos to maintain high-level contacts, explore practical cooperation in such areas as trade and investment, infrastructure, agricultural development, and culture so as to continuously enrich bilateral relations, Jia said.

Hailing Laos-China relationship was developing smoothly, Asang Laoly said the two countries saw fruitful achievements in various areas.

"The Laotian party, government and people firmly support China's peaceful reunification, and will adhere to the one-China policy," Asang Laoly said.

He also expressed warm congratulations on the successful convening of the 5th Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
