PHNOM PENH, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Trade between Cambodia and neighboring Thailand reached 4.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2013, up 12 percent from 4 billion U.S. dollars a year earlier, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Sun Chanthol said Thursday.

Of the amount, Cambodia's export to Thailand was equivalent to 351 million U.S. dollars, up 41 percent year-on-year, while Thailand's export to Cambodia totaled 4.15 billion U.S. dollars, up 10 percent, he said during the opening of a Thai Trade Exhibition in Phnom Penh.

Thailand is Cambodia's largest trading partner. Sun Chanthol attributed the strong trade growth between the two countries to the good trade and economic relations as well as active participation of private sectors.

"I trust that the bilateral trade relations will be well preserved and developed with the complete and active participation from private sectors and the governments of the two countries," he said.

Touchayoot Pakdi, Thai ambassador to Cambodia, said the two countries are neighbors, so there are a lot of possibilities to further increase bilateral trade volume.

"Thailand is committed to further promoting bilateral trade ties between the two countries for the interest of the two countries and peoples," he said.
