Myanmar will launch direct flights to Cambodia

According to the media reports, in order to promote the tourism’s development, Myanmar and Cambodia have come to terms on opening direct flights between the two countries. Cambodian tourism minister said in the ASEAN Tourism Conference that the flights from Yangon to Sie Reap where Angkor Wat was would be twice a week. Myanmar Airways International will assume the flight mission and the first flight will take off on Feb.23, 2010.

It is reported that in total 2.5 million tourists visited Cambodia in the last year, but only 2600 of them were from Myanmar.

Tourism is an important pillar industry of Cambodia’s economy.
